LIQUOR CABINET, 2019
A friend gifted me an old record cabinet that needed a lot of love. The door needed to be completely replaced and it occurred to me to install a picture frame for a window. I found this old incredible picture frame with convex glass! It needed repairs as well, so I cast the intact parts of the frame in plaster of paris, glued them on and matched the gold as best I could. I then traced around the frame on the new door, cut it out and installed! This was one of my first times staining wood, so after I applied the light blue wash, the polyurethane gave it an unexpected patina. I ended up loving shade. With the antique frame, it feels like it was recovered from the wreckage of the Titanic.
